पश्चिमी सिंहभूम: प्रशासन की अनदेखी पर महिलाओं ने श्रमदान से सुधारी जर्जर सड़क

पश्चिमी सिंहभूम जिले के बड़ाजामदा-नोवामुंडी मुख्य मार्ग पर स्थित सुखचैन मोटर के पास की जर्जर सड़क और टूटी पुलिया लंबे समय से स्थानीय निवासियों के लिए गंभीर परेशानी का सबब बनी हुई थी। इस सड़क से प्रतिदिन सैकड़ों लोग गुजरते हैं, लेकिन खस्ताहाल सड़क और क्षतिग्रस्त पुलिया के कारण आवागमन अत्यंत कठिन हो गया था। बारिश के मौसम में स्थिति और भी भयावह हो जाती थी, जिससे राहगीरों को दुर्घटना का खतरा बना रहता था।
स्थानीय लोगों ने बार-बार प्रशासन का ध्यान इस समस्या की ओर आकर्षित कराने की कोशिश की, लेकिन जिला प्रशासन और संबंधित विभाग की ओर से कोई ठोस कदम नहीं उठाया गया। मरम्मत के नाम पर केवल आश्वासन मिलते रहे और सड़क की दशा बद से बदतर होती चली गई।
आखिरकार, प्रशासन की इस उदासीनता से तंग आकर आजीविका ग्राम संगठन, बस्ती जामदा की महिलाओं ने खुद मोर्चा संभालने का फैसला किया। इन साहसी महिलाओं ने एकजुट होकर स्वेच्छा से श्रमदान किया और टूटी-फूटी सड़क की मरम्मत का काम अपने हाथों में ले लिया। फावड़े और अन्य औजार उठाकर इन महिलाओं ने सड़क के गड्ढे भरे और पुलिया को भी दुरुस्त किया।
महिलाओं के इस सामूहिक प्रयास और जज्बे की क्षेत्र में जमकर सराहना हो रही है। ग्रामीणों का कहना है कि जब सरकार और प्रशासन अपनी जिम्मेदारी से मुंह मोड़ लेते हैं, तो आम जनता को ही पहल करनी पड़ती है। इस घटना ने एक बार फिर यह सवाल खड़ा कर दिया है कि ग्रामीण इलाकों में बुनियादी ढांचे की मरम्मत के प्रति प्रशासन की जवाबदेही कब तय होगी। स्थानीय लोगों ने मांग की है कि प्रशासन अब इस सड़क का स्थायी निर्माण कराए ताकि भविष्य में इस तरह की नौबत न आए।
In a striking display of community solidarity, women members of the Ajeevika Gram Sangathan in Basti Jamda, West Singhbhum district, took matters into their own hands after the district administration repeatedly failed to repair a badly damaged road and culvert near Sukhchain Motor on the Badajamda-Noamundi main route.
The dilapidated stretch had long been a source of daily hardship for hundreds of commuters. The broken road and damaged culvert made travel extremely difficult and dangerous, especially during the rainy season when the risk of accidents increased significantly.
Despite repeated appeals to the local administration and concerned departments, no concrete repair work was undertaken. Residents received only assurances while the road's condition continued to deteriorate.
Fed up with administrative apathy, the women of the Ajeevika Gram Sangathan decided to act. Armed with shovels and basic tools, they collectively volunteered their labour to fill potholes and repair the damaged culvert, restoring the road to a usable condition.
The initiative has drawn widespread appreciation from locals, who have also demanded that the administration now undertake permanent repairs to the road to prevent such situations from recurring.
