Bihar's political arena has found a new battleground — this time over a 'VIP toilet'. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Tejashwi Yadav levelled serious allegations against the Nitish Kumar government, accusing it of unnecessary and extravagant spending on toilet construction using public money. Tejashwi claimed the expenditure was wasteful and an abuse of taxpayers' funds.

In a sharp rebuttal, the ruling Janata Dal United (JDU) hit back, stating that Tejashwi and the RJD are spreading misinformation and attempting to mislead the public without any factual basis. JDU spokespersons asserted that all expenses related to the toilet construction were transparent and carried out in accordance with established rules and regulations.

The JDU also highlighted that under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's leadership, Bihar has made significant strides in sanitation, constructing millions of toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission and achieving Open Defecation Free (ODF) status — a landmark achievement for the state.

This latest spat follows a series of political clashes between the ruling alliance and the opposition over issues including government bungalow allotments and security arrangements. Political analysts suggest that these recurring controversies may be part of the opposition's strategy ahead of future elections. The war of words between the two sides continues to escalate.
