जमशेदपुर में दिनदहाड़े ठगी की एक बड़ी वारदात उस वक्त नाकाम हो गई जब बदमाशों ने पुलिस इंस्पेक्टर का वेश धारण कर एक वरिष्ठ अधिवक्ता को अपना शिकार बनाने की कोशिश की। लेकिन अधिवक्ता विद्या सिंह की सतर्कता और समझदारी के चलते बदमाशों की यह चाल पूरी तरह से विफल हो गई।
जानकारी के अनुसार, कुछ संदिग्ध व्यक्ति खुद को पुलिस इंस्पेक्टर बताते हुए वरिष्ठ अधिवक्ता विद्या सिंह के पास पहुंचे और उनसे ठगी करने की कोशिश की। बदमाशों ने अपनी पहचान छुपाने के लिए पुलिस की वर्दी या अन्य पहचान-पत्रों का सहारा लिया। हालांकि, अधिवक्ता विद्या सिंह ने उनकी हरकतों और बात करने के तरीके से तुरंत भांप लिया कि ये लोग असली पुलिसकर्मी नहीं हैं, बल्कि ठग हैं।
