नई दिल्ली: भारत के विदेश मंत्री एस. जयशंकर ने हाल ही में एक महत्वपूर्ण बयान देते हुए यूरोपीय देशों से सवाल किया कि वे किस आधार पर पाकिस्तान को हथियारों की आपूर्ति कर रहे हैं, जबकि उन्हीं हथियारों का इस्तेमाल भारत के खिलाफ किया जा रहा है। जयशंकर के इस बयान के बाद अंतरराष्ट्रीय रक्षा जगत में एक नई बहस छिड़ गई है।
विशेषज्ञों के अनुसार, चीन भले ही आज पाकिस्तान का सबसे बड़ा रक्षा साझेदार बन चुका है, लेकिन पाकिस्तानी सेना, वायुसेना और नौसेना अभी भी कई अहम यूरोपीय हथियारों और सैन्य प्लेटफॉर्म पर निर्भर है। फ्रांस, जर्मनी, इटली और स्वीडन जैसे यूरोपीय देश विभिन्न रूपों में पाकिस्तान को रक्षा सामग्री और तकनीक मुहैया कराते रहे हैं।
पाकिस्तानी नौसेना के पास फ्रांसीसी तकनीक से निर्मित अगोस्ता श्रेणी की पनडुब्बियां हैं। इसके अलावा विभिन्न यूरोपीय देशों से मिसाइल प्रणालियां, रडार उपकरण और अन्य सैन्य सामग्री पाकिस्तान को मिलती रही है। पाकिस्तान की वायुसेना भी यूरोपीय तकनीक पर आधारित कई उपकरणों का उपयोग करती है।
जयशंकर ने अपने बयान में स्पष्ट किया कि जो देश आतंकवाद के खिलाफ लड़ाई का दावा करते हैं, उन्हें यह सुनिश्चित करना चाहिए कि उनके हथियार आतंकवाद को प्रश्रय देने वाले देशों के हाथों में न पड़ें। भारत ने हमेशा इस बात पर जोर दिया है कि पाकिस्तान सीमा पार आतंकवाद का समर्थन करता है।
भारत सरकार का मानना है कि यूरोपीय देशों को अपनी हथियार निर्यात नीति की समीक्षा करनी चाहिए और यह सुनिश्चित करना चाहिए कि उनकी रक्षा सामग्री का इस्तेमाल भारत जैसे लोकतांत्रिक देशों के खिलाफ न हो। विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि जयशंकर का यह बयान भारत की कूटनीतिक रणनीति का एक महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा है, जिससे अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर पाकिस्तान को अलग-थलग किया जा सके।

Jaishankar has raised pointed questions at European nations over their continued weapons supply to Pakistan, asserting that these very arms have been used in attacks against India. His remarks have sparked a fresh international debate on arms export policies.
While China has emerged as Pakistan's largest defence partner today, Pakistan's army, air force, and navy continue to rely significantly on several European weapons systems and military platforms. Countries like France, Germany, Italy, and Sweden have supplied defence equipment and technology to Pakistan in various forms over the years.
Pakistan's navy operates Agosta-class submarines built with French technology. Additionally, missile systems, radar equipment, and other military hardware from European nations have consistently found their way to Pakistan. Pakistan's air force also utilises several systems based on European technology.
Jaishankar made it clear that nations claiming to fight terrorism must ensure their weapons do not end up in the hands of states that harbour and promote it. India has consistently maintained that Pakistan supports cross-border terrorism.
The Indian government believes European countries must review their arms export policies and guarantee that their defence equipment is not deployed against democratic nations like India. Analysts note that Jaishankar's statement is a key part of India's diplomatic strategy to isolate Pakistan on the international stage.
