नई दिल्ली: राष्ट्रीय राजधानी दिल्ली में इस भीषण गर्मी के बीच आम जनता को एक और झटका लगने वाला है। दिल्ली विद्युत नियामक आयोग (DERC) ने सरचार्ज कैप हटाने का आदेश जारी कर दिया है, जिसके बाद बिना सब्सिडी वाले बिजली उपभोक्ताओं का मासिक बिजली बिल 17 प्रतिशत तक बढ़ सकता है।
गर्मी के इस मौसम में जब एसी, कूलर और पंखों के कारण बिजली की खपत पहले से ही चरम पर है, ऐसे में DERC के इस नए आदेश ने लाखों उपभोक्ताओं की चिंता बढ़ा दी है। जानकारों के अनुसार, यह बदलाव खासतौर पर उन उपभोक्ताओं को प्रभावित करेगा जो सरकारी सब्सिडी योजना का लाभ नहीं उठा रहे हैं।
DERC के नए आदेश के तहत बिजली वितरण कंपनियों को अब सरचार्ज वसूलने की अधिकतम सीमा से मुक्त कर दिया गया है। इससे पहले एक तय सीमा तक ही सरचार्ज लगाया जा सकता था, लेकिन अब वह बाधा हट जाने के बाद बिल में उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि देखने को मिल सकती है।
दिल्ली सरकार की मुफ्त बिजली योजना के तहत जो उपभोक्ता 200 यूनिट तक बिजली उपयोग करते हैं, उन्हें इस बढ़ोतरी से राहत मिल सकती है। हालांकि, जो उपभोक्ता इस दायरे से बाहर हैं या जिन्होंने सब्सिडी छोड़ दी है, उन पर इसका सीधा असर पड़ेगा।
विशेषज्ञों का मानना है कि जिस तरह से बिजली की मांग बढ़ रही है और वितरण कंपनियों पर लागत का दबाव है, उसे देखते हुए यह निर्णय लिया गया है। आने वाले महीनों में उपभोक्ताओं को अपने बजट की योजना इसी को ध्यान में रखकर बनानी होगी।
फिलहाल सामान्य नागरिकों में इस आदेश को लेकर नाराजगी है और विपक्षी दल भी इस मुद्दे को जनता के बीच उठाने की तैयारी में हैं।

This regulatory change is expected to push up electricity bills by as much as 17% for consumers who do not avail of government subsidies.
The decision comes at a time when power consumption in the capital is at its peak due to increased use of air conditioners, coolers, and fans. The move is set to directly impact lakhs of non-subsidised electricity consumers across Delhi.
Under the new DERC order, power distribution companies are no longer bound by an upper limit on surcharge collection, a restriction that previously kept billing increases in check. Consumers who benefit from the Delhi government's free electricity scheme — covering usage up to 200 units — may remain shielded from the hike. However, those outside this bracket or who have opted out of the subsidy will face significantly higher monthly bills.
Energy experts suggest the decision reflects rising operational costs faced by power distribution firms. Opposition parties have already signalled their intent to raise the issue publicly and demand a rollback of the order.
Residents are advised to monitor their consumption carefully in the coming billing cycles.
